A redesign for the flagship centrifuge at LW Scientific
Ideation
AI technologies was utilized during the ideation of this design process, specifically Vizcom. Being able to 3D print the exterior of this product was one of the main objective. By using the AI, we able to brainstorm and visualize more efficiantly.
Features/Innovation
A reversed motor mounting design was used for this product. This unique mounting position not only lowered the overall height of the unit for 1 inch, it also lowers the center of gravity for the motor, which produce a more stable and quieter centrifuge.
We successfully designed the exterior shell of this unit to be 100% 3D printable. By spitting the body into 3 separate pieces, they can be printed with close to zero support material.
A service panel is added to the new E8 for easier assess to the bottom of the motor. This feature will reduce time and tools needed to service the unit for both customers and service department.
